Niagara Wine Country
September and October make up the harvest season for many of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s varietals. Wineries and their vineyards are buzzing with activity this time of year. Consider taking a tour in addition to visiting the tasting room to see what goes into making your favorite glass of wine.
Queen Street
Shops, restaurants and picture-perfect houses line many of the town’s quaint streets. The historic downtown is filled with reminders of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s beginnings as a British stronghold during the American Revolution. Make sure you wander down Queen Street for iconic views, as well as the best shopping options.
Lake Ontario
If the weather permits, walk along the shore of Lake Ontario without any of the summer crowds. Both Queen’s Royal Park and Mississauga Beach offer visitors picturesque views.
Fort George National Historic Site
Add a bit of history to your daytrip when you visit Fort George National Historic Site. Daily programs are available for all ages. Just outside the Site lies Butler’s Barracks, another National Historic Site.

Whether you need a break from the sun or the weather feels more like winter than fall, step into one of the region’s quirky museums. The Niagara Apothecary Museum is an authentic look at a turn-of-the-century apothecary. Or, learn about the art of printing at the Mackenzie Printery and Newspaper Museum, located in nearby Queenston. Both are open through October.
