Heading to New York City to take in a Broadway show? While the theater will be the highlight of your trip, you’ll need a few other items on your itinerary to fill your time in the Big Apple. Take advantage of all midtown Manhattan has to offer with these things to do in the Theater District.

Broadway Pedestrian Plaza

Spend a little time people watching in the car-free blocks of Broadway. Tables and chairs, lighting and even free WiFi make this a great spot to relax any time of the day.

Bryant Park

No matter the time of year, there’s something to do in Bryant Park. Pop up shops, restaurants, fitness classes, green space, an ice skating rink, and, of course, The New York Public Library, are just a few of the reasons to visit Bryant Park during your time near Broadway.

Caroline’s

No matter when you’ll be in Times Square, there will be a comedy show at Caroline’s. Up and coming stars (this is where Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen and Jay Leno got their start) and some of the biggest names in comedy are both on the schedule.

Gulliver’s Gate

This is a great option for families traveling to the Theater District. Whether you’re young or young at heart, this museum of interactive dioramas will have you hunting for teeny tiny slices of pizza throughout miniature replicas of more than 25 cities.

Kinokuniya Bookstore

The Japanese bookstore chain has a location on Avenue of the Americas, directly across the street from Bryant Park. The first floor is home to English-language books. On the second story, you’ll find Japanese books, graphic novels and gifts.

Restaurant Row

There are so many dining options within the block of 46th Street between Broadway and 9th Avenue, it’s was renamed Restaurant Row in 1973. No matter when you want to eat or what cuisine you’re craving, you’ll find it here.
