A local travel services company just took a
step forward onto the global scene.
Buffalo-headquartered Travel Team has
acquired three Florida-based travel agencies
— a move expected to propel the company into
the ranks of the Top 15 largest travel
management companies in the country.
“We’re not just a regional player
anymore, we’re a multinational player,” said
Jean McDonnell Covelli, president of Travel
Team. “To have a locally headquartered
company in a global market speaks volumes
about how well represented Buffalo will be.”
The company acquired Adventure Travel,
Carefree Travel and Millennium Travel. Terms
were not disclosed.
All 30 Tampa Bay employees will remain
on, in addition to the company’s 110
employees in Buffalo, Jamestown, Albany and
Pennsylvania.
“Once we emerge on the other side of this
unprecedented financial crisis, we believe
there is great opportunity to expand
employment in Buffalo and Tampa,” she said.
Covelli said the Tampa Bay area is a
critical gateway to the Latin American
market, an emerging destination in both
corporate and leisure travel.
Travel Team, owned by Rich Products
Corp., coordinates corporate and leisure
travel and provides event planning services.
Travel Team is currently ranked by Business
Travel News as the 26th largest travel
management company in the nation.
